The School of Physical Sciences at the University of Kent bring their mobile planetarium to Folkestone’s Quarterhouse.
Using the free software Stellarium, visitors are invited to take a look into the night sky and discover more about the objects that you can see out in space. Each presenter-led session lasts for 30 minutes and is geared towards a specific knowledge level.
Family sessions (for ages 5+; no babies): 10am, 11am, 1pm, 2pm
Adult beginner session: 4pm
Adult intermediate session: 5pm
Followed by an introduction to the latest research in astrophysics (on ‘impact cratering’ and the search for habitable locations within our solar system) from 6-7pm in the Quarterhouse bar by Dr Kathryn Harriss, researcher in the Centre for Astrophysics and Planetary Science (CAPS) at the University of Kent.
